Now that you know the compatible devices, let's walk through the VI eSIM activation process


  1. SMS "eSIM registered email id" to 199
  2. If your email id is valid, you will receive a confirmation SMS. Reply with "ESIMY" to confirm the eSIM change request.
  3. If your email id is invalid, you will receive a SMS from 199 asking you to re-initiate the process with the correct email id.
  4. After confirming your request, you will receive another SMS from 199 asking you to provide a consent over a call.
  5. After providing your consent, you will receive a final SMS with the QR Code that you will receive on your registered email id.

Important Tip💡: If the QR Code is not received, please check your spam/junk folder or search for sender id "esim@vodafoneidea.com". You can also try getting a different domain email id, such as Gmail, and registering the new email ID via the Vi App. After 48 hours from registering the new email id, send "eSIM registered email id" to 199 for eSIM activation.


Upon completing the activation process, you'll need to set up the eSIM on your device. The configuration varies slightly for different eSIM-compatible devices, but don't worry - 101 Internet has your back!



For those using Apple Devices: 

Ensure that your phone is connected to Wi-Fi or mobile data, and then follow these steps: go to "Settings," select "Mobile Data," and click on "Add Data Plan." Then, simply scan the QR code received via email and follow the prompts on your phone.

For those with Google devices: 

Ensure that your phone is connected to Wi-Fi or mobile data, and then follow these steps: click on "Settings," select "Network & Internet," click on "Mobile Network," then "Download a SIM instead," and finally "Next." After that, scan the QR code received via email and follow the prompts on your phone.

Samsung device users: 

Ensure that their phone is connected to Wi-Fi or mobile data, and then follow these steps: go to "Settings," select "Connections," click on "SIM Card Manager," then "Add Mobile Plan," and finally "Add Using QR Code." After that, scan the QR code received via email and follow the prompts on your phone.


For those using a Motorola Razr: 

Ensure that your phone is connected to Wi-Fi or mobile data, and then follow these steps: click on "Settings," select "Network & Internet," and click on "Next" (Download your Sim). Finally, scan the QR code received via email and follow the prompts on your phone.
